Default what's a good free 3d rts with a great storyline.

while i know i might be asking for too much, as it has to be free, but it's worth a shot.

rts games were my first love. warcraft orcs and humans, warcraft 2, starcraft 2... these are the games i grew up with. while i do own warcraft 3, i'm a bit bored with it, and playing it again holds no appeal.

so i'm looking for a free 3d rts with a nice single player campaign.

what say ye?

I don't know about free (unless you pirate), but Command and Conquer 3 was pretty fast and had corny acting in the FMVs.

If you like Lord of the Rings, I HIGHLY, suggest getting LotR: Battle For Middle Earth 2 and the expansion(optional, it adds a faction controlled by the Witch King). Singleplayer, Skirmish, and Online Play available, great factions such as, Men, Dwarves, Elves, Mordor, Isengard, and Goblins, and the expansion comes with Angmar. Nice graphics, great buildings, large scale battles and a helluva lot more.

Just my 2 cents, you can get BFME2 for I believe $20 USD, and the expansion for $20-$30. I know it's not free, but Idk if you can get a free RTS except a demo.

Company of Heroes or Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War

You can get Dawn of War + 2 expansions (total of 7 races), for like 30 bucks.

I don't know of any free RTS's (much less any that are "good", I've actually never played a good free game).

I personally have C&C3 (which is insanely fun, especially if you are a long time C&C fan), by the way, whoever said the FMV acting was corny, I just have one thing to say. Billy Dee Williams OOOOWWWNNZZZZZ.

Sins of a Solar Empire (if you have the machine to run it) is probably the best RTS on the market right now.

I've heard Company of Heroes is great, but I haven't had time to check it out yet.

I played it on a crappy laptop, the requirements aren't that high.

You don't need an rts for amusement, you own a time machine.

I've found a free 3D RTS, but it's lacking a storyline.. infact it lacks single player full stop. It's still pretty awesome though.

*edit*
I should also mention, there's plenty of mods for it such as WW2 or star wars.
